There is a wide spectrum of knowledge and opinions about recreational versus medical marijuana. As I have consulted with many new patients as well as long time users, I find that the long time users are often used to an old culture of marijuana. They may think that since they are veteran users, that what they need is the strongest, highest THC marijuana available in order to fight their pain. What I have found from assessing new users’ medical needs is that sometimes the old users are losing out on the more subtle benefits of other strains that may have less THC, but provide better specific relief for anxiety or insomnia, nerve pain, or stiffness.
I generally call anything very strong “Highly Medicalized” marijuana, but it’s best to know your strain and what it does so you’re not killing a cockroach with a sledge hammer.
