This Federal website devoted to information about cancer  helps explain the objective, scientific research on cannabis and its triggering apoptosis in cancer cells- essentially telling the cell to turn off so it can be removed as waste from the body.

It’s not a miracle. Although not everything is known, here is one way to think about it; the Cannabis plant uses its own Endocannabinoid System (ECS) for stress response, pests, and other environmental traumas. We coincidentally have an Endocannabinoid System that responds to trauma- bodily, emotionally, or otherwise. Cannabinoids from the plant bolster the effect of our own ECS. Intuitively speaking the cannabinoid compounds are only doing their job telling confused cells- that divide over and over without a function- to cease and desist. The cancer cells go through programmed cell death (become necrotic) and die.
